Sweetheart Abbey has been standing tall for over 700 years, and is the focal point of the village of New Abbey.

CORN MILL

This 18th Century water-powered mill stands in the village of New Abbey and is open to visitors.

VILLAGE HALLS

Both New Abbey and Beeswing have Village Hall facilities used by the community and available for hire. The below link gives more information about the New Abbey Hall which has it's own website.

SHAMBELLIE HOUSE

Shambellie House lies on the outskirts of New Abbey. The former National Museum of Costume continues to host a variety of exhibitions, and is looked after by the Shambellie House Trust.

ABBEY COTTAGE TEAROOM

Abbey Cottage Tearoom sits in the shadow of Sweetheart Abbey and offers a range of homemade soups and snacks as well as home baking and specialty teas and coffees. The tearoom also has an extensive gift shop.

SHEBBURN SURGERY

The local GP surgery is a dispensing practice which provides, via attached Dumfries and Galloway Health Board staff, a full range of Health Visiting, Midwifery and District Nursing Services.

Loch Arthur is a working community in Beeswing which includes men and women with learning disabilities.
